You won't arrive at better health by accident.

So how's that New Year's resolution to get FIT
and maybe drop a few pounds going?
Are you scarfing down pizza and buffalo wings
with a large diet beverage?
Yep, thought so.
     Why is it so hard to keep
our health resolutions?  We
know we should eat better
and exercise more, and we even know how to do it in most instance.
So why can't we stick to it?

  Dr. Randall Wright, co author of
The Wright Choice,Your Family's Prescription for Healthy Eating, Modern Fitness and Saving Money,says the main problem is that we're not planning our health.  We plan our finances, we plan our vacations we plan when to have kids.  But even though we can't enjoy any of life's experiences fully without good health, we skip the planning process for it..
    
Wright says we should sit down with our families and map out a health plan just like we would a financial plan with a broker..
  "assess where you are now," he says.

     "Visit your doctor, get your weight, your blood pressure, your cholesterol checked."
Just because you feel good does not necessarily mean you're healthy.

For example, heart disease and diabetes are chronic diseases that often have no immediate symptoms. 
 
     Then start making changes gradually enough that you can stick to them.  You have to acclimate yourself to a healthier lifestyle .  "Just as there are no real get rich quick schemes,"   there are no get quick fit schemes either

Paul, I agree 100% train smarter not harder when you have an injury,it's the right thing to do. You know the old saying "NO PAIN NO GAIN", well it's INSANE TO TRAIN AND CAUSE MORE PAIN, the recumbent bike is the smart way to train. Stay committed, Stay active, Stay FIT!

Some co-workers of mine went on a 21 day cleanse, and lost quire a bit of wiehgt so I did some research and discovered that most of the time they want you not to eat protein and they advise you not to lift weights - only walk. And cut out coffee too!? Well, I like coffee and I like to lift weights. What are your thoughts?

PEB, I'm going to do my on modified version of the 21 day Lemonade detox, Beginning This Monday July 9th. Below is the recipe. Lemonade detox Recipe (1 serving) 2 tablespoons (or half of a lemon) of Fresh Lemon Juice. 2 tablespoons of Pure Maple Syrup. 1/10 of a teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper. 1 – 2 cups of Purified Water. Since I'm a trainer and I run a boot camp 3 days a week along with a "kids fit camp", I need my protein, so I've decided to eat only baked fish or tuna, boiled eggs, almonds, drink green tea and eat fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables. PEB, keep me posted on your detox, check in next week. I look forward to hearing from you. Major Fitness

July 10, 2012 First Day of the Lemonade or "master" cleanse as all the cool kids are calling it, Tammie, Major, Beyonce, etc... It is almost seven pm and I am just about finished with my 60oz of the concoction (60oz of filtered/purified water, 4 freshly squeezed lemons - about 12 tbl of lemon juice, 12 tbl spoons of organic grade B maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper). I did not stick to the lemonade concoction only, here is what I ate a various times during the day: walnuts, organic apple, can of plain albacore tuna, organic blackberries, a cup of green and black tea, and black coffee (can't give that up) I will also have drank 64 oz of water in addition to the concoction. I honestly feel really good, I feel mentally sharper as well, and I have now have X ray vision - just kidding; but I am surprised on how good I feel; I can't make that any clearer. I am probably going to do some yoga tonight with my Yoga Master - Rodney Yee. Here is the real test - yesterday (7/9) I weighted in at 198.2, BMI = 30. My goal weight is 185. If i can get there I will have considered this experiment a success
